Blend Café and Pizza Bar, Melville
The Perfect Blend
Cuisine: Pizza, Italian, Coffee, BYO
Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, gone are the days where you could simply show up in the evening a grab a table. Blend has become a well-known local gem and booking ahead is a must.
Atmosphere: This somewhat smaller restaurant is covered in many novel pieces and trinkets that capture your attention when you walk in. The alternative yet warm atmosphere is very welcoming, and the wood-fire oven visible from the dining areas really seals the deal.
Price: I’m not surprised Blend has become so popular with its great quality, and incredibly well-priced food. The standard dinner menu will see you spend $6.5 (Turkish Bread) to $25 (Mixed Grilled Plate) on starters and $19.50 (Chicken Caesar Salad) to $33.50 (Lamb Cutlets) on mains. As for the great, generous, delicious pizzas –I can’t emphasis this enough- they’ll set you back $17 – $21.Service: Best of all Blend is still BYO and a bottle-shop is conveniently located a couple shops over.
Food: A great variety of Italian foods including some lovely pastas, fresh wood-fired pizzas and bread starters, and a delicious specials menu that changes on a regular basis means there is always something great on the menu to try. I’ve had some of my favourite pizzas, risottos, pastas and chili mussel dishes here.
The serving are generous, and believe me, when you see your dish coming out for the first time you just won’t believe what you get for the price. I still remember the look on my friends face who I took to Blend one night when his pizza arrived. He couldn’t believe the size, the price or the taste. Needless to say he was more than happy to have the leftovers for lunch the next day.
